ROCKFORT QUARRY ONTARIO MUNICIPAL BOARD HEARING SET

After almost 12 years of fighting the proposed Rockfort Quarry, critical dates are in place in preparation for the final Ontario Municipal Board Hearing, May 25, 2009.

The Coalition needs every ounce of support you can muster.  We will be asking you to attend meetings, volunteer, and contribute financially via garage sales and our capital campaign

We need you to express your concerns both vocally and in letters to your politicians at all levels of government. Should you or your neighbours not be there for us, then the likely consequences will be an open pit mine pumping millions of litres per day of our water, forcing up to 1,000 trucks per day on our roads, spewing noise, dust, pollution and carbon emissions.  Does this represent good planning for Caledon?

PEER REVIEWS

The Town of Caledon, The Region of Peel and Credit Valley Conservation and the Coalition of Concerned Citizens peer reviewed the revised Site Plans submitted by James Dick Construction Limited (JDCL).  These peer reviews were released on November 21, 2008, and can be accessed here:

IMPORTANT DATES

The three agencies will be voting on their positions as to accepting or rejecting the Rockfort proposal on these dates:

  • Credit Valley Conservation votes on February 20, 2009
  • Town of Caledon votes on March 3, 2009
  • Region of Peel votes on April 2, 2009
